H. T. Kitselman & Co.
leads the dry goods, clothing, boot and shoe trade with a well selected
stock. This enterprising firm have been in the business at Ridgeville for a
number of years, and by close attention to business, carefully guarding the
interests of their patrons and judicious use of printer’s ink, their name
has become a household word. Their business assumed such immense
proportions that they found it necessary to establish a branch house, which
was located at Redkey, and business began in September, 1885. The business
has so far exceeded their greatest anticipations, and at this time enjoy a
large trade which is constantly increasing. Their courteous treatment to
customers has gained for them a reputation that cannot be shaken, while
their low prices bind their patrons with ties of confidence that withstand
the vain attempts of their competitors to destroy their rapidly increasing
trade. Next in the dry goods line we find
Wm. I. Kern
with a house full of nice clean goods. Mr. Kern has been a most successful
business man, having been established in continuous business longer than any
one house in Redkey. He successfully passed through the “tidal wave of
1872,” and while others have started up in business, he has led the
procession, and by fair dealing and low prices, has established a trade that
will stand by him in the future as in the past. He also carries a complete
line of groceries, boots, shoes, notions, etc., and deals extensively in
grain and wool. The farmers near Redkey will find him ready to wait on them
in a pleasant manner.
Lyon & Smith
also carrying a well selected stock of dry goods, clothing, boots, shoes,
notions, etc., and honest dealing with their customers have proved the “poor
man’s friend.” Their successful business of the past is a guarantee to
customers that they can get value received for their money by trading with
this house. Their stock is new, fresh and clean.
L. E. James
carries a full line of dry goods, notions, groceries, canned goods, etc. He
commenced business in August of 1883, and during the few years of his
business career, has succeeded in building up a remarkably large trade.
Honesty seems to be again displayed by him in referring to the years of
continuous success that have crowned him in his efforts to please his
numerous customers. The people of Redkey and vicinity will find him always
ready to give them bargains in anything in his line.
Churchhill & Craps
the proprietors of the Lima Grocery, came to Redkey but a short time since,
and are enjoying a good trade.
