Bob and everyone! I have the 1860 on cd, as noted in the look-up pages. WE
do have an 1870 look-up volunteer, though she is working from a paper
version, which is a bit of a pian, I know as I have the 1850 and volunteer
to do that. !

I see that there is now an index to the 1870 Indiana Census
(on
CD-ROM). If anyone on this list has that index, I'd appreciate very much
their checking for a Samuel Boon or Boone who has a wife named Sarah and a
son named James. James would be 9 or 10 years old. I'm not sure whether
the
index has that much detail.
Thanking you in advance, Arthur Hopkins
I would like to add my name and a question about this too! Is there anyone
out there in INJAY-Land that has copies of the census from say 1860 to
1900. Second question......based on what Family Treemaker did with the 1850
census.....they scanned in the original books which gave a whole bunch more
information on the census of 1850 than any other year. Are the CD's that
are being sold now including graphics of each page or is the 1850 deal the
only one?
Now that I think of it...they probably just copied the fiche of the 1850.
Well it should be easy to do with one or two exceptions....#1 the graphics
are in TIFF format which takes up megabytes of space....If they had done it
in JPG format it would not have taken so much space....
This brings up another question...do we have anyone on the list who
actually lives in Jay county and would be willing to do look-ups? Or anyone
living in Marion county by the State Library who would do census look-ups
either gratus OR for a few bucks...Seems like it might be a good side-job
and could make someone some "mad money" as mom used to call it.
