Hi all. I am back to working more on the old newspaper clippings and there are a couple
of more of the newspaper items from the elections, which are much like a biography. I
started posting these 2 or 3 weeks ago. Here is one more. This is from "The
Portland Commercial", Sept. 9, 1886. Hope the info is usefull to someone.
Coroner - D. S. Kinsey, candidate for Coroner, is 40 years of age, and a buckeye by birth.
He came with his father, from near Dayton, OH, 32 years ago, and settled on a farm in
Greene township. By attending common schools and Liber College, became a teacher in the
common schools at the age of 18. He taught a number of schools in this and Johnson
county, this state. Commenced the studying of medicine in Johnson county, in the spring
of 1871. He attended the Indiana Medical college in 1872-73. After following his
profession one year in Johnson county, he returned with his family to Jay county in 1874,
and settled in Portland, where he has since been engaged in the practice of medicine.
During the last two years he has given the greater part of his time to the insurance
business. He is a man of sober and correct habits, has been a life-long Republican and a
good citizen. He is thoroughly competent to fill the office for which he was nominated.
