Listers,
It's not a matter of blaming someone. Let's not start a controversy here and
point fingers. It's a problem that exists, but one
that must be dealt with before our Rootsweb systems suffers irreparable damage. You would
not believe the msgs I've gotten from
people who've gotten this the same way I did. I think all of us just want the rw
system to be safe.
My message was meant to inform people how it's happening. It was not meant to point
fingers. However, it is clear, since we can't
fix it ourselves, the only choice is for rw to work on the problem or for us to quit using
it. That would certainly be a tragedy.

Subject: Re: [INJAY] Virus cleaned - recieved through rootsweb
Someone has found a way to infiltrate our wonderful Rootsweb system but I
think it's time Rootsweb did something about it. If some of our server's
programs can catch this virus, as I'm hearing back, I would think Rootsweb
could too.
Shirl
I cannot speak for the list owners, but I must admit that of all the things
that cost us money on the net these days, Rootsweb continues to be free.
Also note this is the first time I have ever heard of this...so its not
possible that Rootsweb has been ignoring a problem. Lets try and put the
blame of the people who write these programs!
