I would start by checking the 1900 and 1910 Census records to see if she was
still living at those times. (There is no 1890 census) If she is not
listed with her husband in the Census at one of those dates, you can narrow
down the time of death. I don't know about Jay County, but most counties or
states don't have death records for public viewing before circa the late
1880's . If you could narrow down the approximate time period she died,
say 1900-1910, for example, you could take a chance and write to the
County or State Board of Health and ask if they have a death record for
Katherine J. Crawford during that time period. Or if you happen to live
near Jay County, go directly to the County Board of Health yourself. The
field would be narrower at the County level. There is usually a small fee
for requesting a certified copy through the mail, but the info is free if
you view it in person. Just a suggestion.
I would like to find the death certificate of my maternal
grandmother,
Katherine J worden(an) "Kate". She married Alexander Crawford in 1880, and
lived a short life, but I do not know the date of her death. They were
married in Jay Co, and the marriage records do not give her parents names,
etc. I want to verify her name, names of parents, and the state where she
was born... I believe it was Ohio. Thank you, Ann Chamness Chambers
