Subject: [INJAY] Civil War---Barnes
Is there a website where I can search for the names of ALL of the men
who
served in the Civil War from Jay Co. IN?
I am looking specifically for TRUMAN BARNES. He was born 1829, PA,
married
Catharin HOZIER Jan 3, 1853, Jay Co. IN. His father died in Jay Co.
in
1854 and Truman was named in the probate. However I have NEVER found
TRUMAN
BARNES on any census---not 1850, 1860 or any other census.
Two other brothers served in that war, but one had moved to MO by
then---Erastus Redman BARNES. The other, Gabriel F. BARNES had also
married
in 1853 and moved to Blackford Co. IN by 1860.
Both Erastus and Gabriel died of typhoid in the war. Gabriel served in
Co.
B, 34th Indiana Volunteers. Erastus served in Co. A. Missouri 33rd
Regiment.
If anyone knows anything about Truman Barnes or whether he served in the
Civil War, I would be glad to hear from you.
Thanks,
Dot
