Hello to the list:
Barbara and Amy,
Hello from a distant cousin. My 2nd Great Grandmother was a sister to
Joseph Brown. They were both born in Arba, Wayne or Jay County, Indiana.
Joseph was two years older than Mary Jane. I would love to share histories
with you. There is also another Skinner/Brown/Rush marriage in the same
family. I'll be waiting to hear from you. Please email me at
tgauthier(a)metnet.state.mt.us
Thanks.

Do you know who the parents of William Crossen was who married Matilda
Skinner? I am working on the Crossen/Crossan line from Pa to Ohio and
on into Jay
County, Ind.
Associated with the Crossens is Ranck, McFadden, Taylor. Appreciate any
help
on any of these surnames. Glad to exchange data with anyone who is
interested.

Barbara,
Sorry, I misspoke before (should have looked at my charts before my last
post). Matilda married Samuel Crossen, not William Crossen.
I wish I knew who his parents were. I know very little about him, except
that he married Matilda Debolt Skinner sometime between 1850 (when her
first husband, William Henry Skinner, died) and 1852, when Matilda is
named
as his wife in William's probate papers. Beginning in 1859, Matilda is
named as the wife of Joseph Brown in probate and land records.
William and Matilda (Debolt) Skinner lived in Perry County, Ohio. I've
seen
the McFadden name there on occasion.
I'd be happy to exchange information with anyone researching any of these
families!

Don't know if this might help you, but I checked the 1850 IN census and
did not locate a Samuel CROSSEN in Indiana in 1850. However, there was a
Samuel CROSSEN in Perry Co. OH in 1850. He was 49 years old in 1850.
