Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I have done the page and added the surnames that have been submitted to me thusfar. The page isn't the greatest looking yet. I'll work on making it a little more appealing to the eye in time. But I wanted to get it up and going. Adding surnames is an easy thing. So keep em comin' and I'll get them added right away. You can check out the surname registry page by clicking the link on the main page. I've made the page very simple to use. You can simply click the name of the researcher to email them. The subject line will be automatically filled in with the surname of interest. I'm also open to any suggestions regarding the page.
Let me know what you think, and send me those Jay Co. surnames you want added to the registry.

In regards to the new "surnames" page I am adding to the webpage.... If you are wanting me to ad you Jay Co. surnames to the page and to list you as someone interested in those surnames, please let me know that. Maybe I wasn't real clear in my previous post. If that's the case, I apologize for not being clear. Please email me directly if you would like your Jay Co. surnames added to the page. Specify that you want those surnames added to the page and that you want your name and email address listed so that others whom are interested in those surnames can email you.
Thanks.

Hi all. I have decided to ad a surnames page to the webpage. There will be a link on the main page where people can click to see who's researching what surnames in the county. From there, when a person sees a surname they are researching, there will be a list of others researching that surname in the county and will include the email address of the person researching that surname. So... what I'd like from all of you is for you to send me a list of the surnames you are researching in Jay Co. I will then ad yoor email address to beside each of the surnames you are researching in Jay Co. Please limit your surnames to Jay Co. surnames only.
Also, I have just completed transcribing the Jay Co. marriages from 1837-1856. There are roughly about 2,000 marriages listed for about 4,000 individuals. The only thing I have left to do is to go over it and make corrections. The book should be available within the next week. If you are interested in obtaining a copy of the book, send me an email and I will notify you (hopefully late this week) and let you know when it is available.

I AM DELIGHTED TO HAVE THIS IN-JAY information AND THINK I CAN HELP YOU AS
WELL AS YOU HELP ME.
FIRST THE PARENTS YOU MENTION ARE THE PARENT S I AM LOOKING FOR. NEVER DID
HAVE SAMUEL'S WIFE'S LAST NAME. SHE WAS MARTHA. ?
MY GARRINGER LINE HAS THE ONES YOU NEED.
DAVID VAN GARRINGER.......born 1808 in Va. married Tamara Adams whose
parents were Samuel Adams and Martha. buried Chesire Cem. Tamar
born 1805 in New York, Duchess County. Samuel would not have married twice
would he? Since you did not have a Martha on your list.
An for whoever wanted the Gilbert Patterson inf he was husband to Martha
Garringer the oldest daughter of this David Van Garringer. Gilbert Liberty
Patterson married Martha March 25, 1852 ..Martha died in Jay County so more
of his info may be there. Her death was in 1895 March.
The Moore family were also married into Garringer's as Martha Patsy Moore
was the wife of Jacob M Garringer and think I saw the stone in Bluff Point
Cem. I found that they married in Delaware County, Ohio in c. 1830
I do not know when Tamara Adams, Garringer died except she was in the census
as Tamar and think it was 1850 census but the next one young David Van,
their son was living with Mary who hitched to Gideon Rathbun..

Good Morning Phyllis,
Just a short note to thank you for all the information that you have helped
me with over the past year. I see your many responses to others and am
impressed with such generosity. One of these days, I hope to spend more time
in Jay County to reminisce about my youth. (HA HA) Perhaps I should come for
the Jay County Fair? I heard that the Gen Society always has a booth. Life
has been so good to us.
Your friend and fellow Genealogist,
RR
I have some Garringer individuals that married into the Harford line. Other
marriages into this line of Harford were the Iiams or Iams families.
Roberta
Hi, I have two gillett/journey connections in my line. Stephen and Robert
Journey married sisters Rachel and Emily Gillett. Is this the family you
seek?
Phyllis

Hi Richard,
Phyllis Franlkin here.
The Via family is of interest. I have known of them since I was a child.
My Aunt Wanda Shauver, w/o James. was orphaned in her early teens. She was
taken in by various families and usually worked as a nanny or housekeeper.
She worked for and with the Via family especially when their son was born.
I know that she kept contact with them throughout her life and was very
close to them. I know that my mother will know what Ella Mae's maidian name
was. I will ask the next time I speak with her and will let you know.
Phyllis Franklin
