I am looking for Brown family descendants of Harold Brown, Beryl Brown, and Cleo Brown. I have an old postcard sent to our Brown family in Port Byron, New York inviting them to the 34th Brown family reunion. It was to be held at Otter Lake in 1940. I have been researching the Brown family descendants and was hoping to make contact with Calvin Brown, Charles Brown, and Harmon Gilson Brown descendants.
Diane Titus , descendant of Robert Brown, brother to these afore mentioned
Hi Cindy,
Thanks for the prompt reply. More info than I was hoping for. Now I need to
sort through it. Thanks so much for your time and effort.
Thanks,
Frank

Hi, Lydia Woten was the greatgrand daughter of Hugh Woten and Nancy Woten
was the granddaughter of Samuel Woten. Hugh and Samuel were brothers.
Samuel being the eldest the line through which I am descended. They were
the sons of Edward B. and Jane Gilliland Woten.

Phyllis,
Thanks for the info on Moores and MCCartys & Wotens.
I need to go back further than your oldest Samuel Moore b. 1841 though
to try and connect the Samuel that bought property near Henry Moore's
prop.
Henry I'm sure must have had siblings born before his birth of 1814 as
his mother was about 30 at the time. I am hoping that Samuel will turn
up as being his brother.
In light of the fact that the date on the property sales was 1838, I
would think that Samuel would have been around Henry's age of 24, or
maybe older. I will keep searching. Will try to find parents of Samuel
b. 1841.
I have Samuel A. Moore's (Dora V. McCarty's husband) parents as George
Levi Moore and Clementine Green. Would you have anything to substantiate
this? George Levi was a son of Henry Moore.
No, I don't think it's strange that Dora's mother was a Woten as was
Samuel Moore's wife.
Taking into account the age of Nancy Woten's husband's age. (most likely
she was close to his age). I think the age span between Lydia Woten and
Nancy Woten was probably about 40 years. Nancy could have been Lydia's
great aunt or some kind of cousin maybe.
Hope the list doesn't mind this long note. It's been kind of dead lately
anyway.

I have a Samuel Moore, 1841-1913, buried in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Lynn,
IN. married to Nancy Woten, d/o Henry and Sarah Williams Woten. They had
the following children. Samuel born 1867, died 1869, Sarah, who died in
1951 and wrote the first Woten Genealogy I have, in 1936, Harvey,
Addison, born 1872, Elzworth, 1874-1879, Warren born 1877, Wm. P. 1879,
and Nancy Ann
1882. I don't know who Samuel's parents were.
I have that Dora McCarty, born 1883, d/o Frank and Lydia Woten McCarty,
married Samuel Moore. I knew Dora and Sam. They were neighbors of my
fathers parents, lived in Portland, In. Dora died in the 60's sometime.
Sam several years before. They never had any children. Dora played the
piano. I remember here as an older woman who wore long, long, dresses,
and her steel gray hair up in a tight knot on the back of her head. She
always had a smile on her face and I was always welcome in her house.
I think it is strange that Dora's mother was a Woten as was Samuel's
Moore's wife. Her husband, Sam, had to have been related to the first
Samuel in some way, don't you think? Phyllis

Phyllis,
Thank you for your response & the names of Dora's parents. I'm looking
for a connection between Dora and Samuel Moore to the Henry Moore family
of Bluff Point, Jay Co.
Henry and Samuel both bought property in Jay in the same twp. and
signature date of the property sales was the same. I believe they may
have been brothers. Would you happen to have info on Samuel, DOB &
parents names?
Thanks loads. Surely do appreciate your help.

Did you ever get any information about Dora Moore? She was the daughter
of Frank McCarty and lydia Ella Woten. Is this the Dora McCarty Moore
that you were looking for?????
