Cindy,
I have a possible relation to your Tharps.
Elias G. Moore b. Jay Co. married Susan Elizabeth Tharp in 1866, Jay Co.
I came across a clue that led me to Iowa.
Found them in the 1880 & 1885 census in Van Buren Twp., Jackson Co., IA.
In 1895 & 1900 they were in Bedford Twp., Taylor Co. IA. They might have
been in another IA. location before 1880 but haven't found anything yet.
As you know, families followed each other around in those days so you
might want to check in IA.
Elias G. Moore was brother to my husband's 2nd g-grandfather.
Have you heard of Susan Elizabeth Tharp b. 1847?
Marilyn

I'm asking for a favor. I know my ancestor Christopher Bergen Tharp/Thorp
was in either Grant, Jay or Adams Co.,IN in 1870. I have access to the
census but not an index. His daughter, my ancestor, Elizabeth Ruth Tharp,
married 1868 in Van Buren to Jonathan D. Kelly. they were in Jefferson
Twp., Adams Co.,IN for the 1870 census. but her parents aren't there. In
1880 CB Tharp was in Wabash Twp., Jay Co.,IN but I looked there for 1870 &
can't find him. He's been elusive before, I've never found him in the 1850
census! In 1840 he was in Cincinatti, OH & 1860 down in Harrison Co.,IN.
Thanks for any help, Cindy

Jane, I can help you with the census look ups. I also had family in Seneca
. The Seneca folks had moved from the Harrison Co.,OH area & the Harrison,
OH folks did move to Jay/Adams Co.,IN. Courtright & Kelly are just 2 of my
surnames I'm researching from this area. Cindy
Thank you all so much. I have received many helpful replies. It seems CB
Tharp was in Bearcreek Twp., Jay Co. What makes this even more difficult is
I have 2 Tharp lines, one is my direct line & the other is a collateral.
But they all moved to the same area! My direct line is from New England &
NY, the collateral is from VA & aren't related. Cindy
Wow are you fast!
Thanks so much for the 1880, with the dates and other info I have, these
both appear to be in my family, the first being Peter Wagner m. Margaret
Lucius, that I asked about, and the second Peter Wagner in Bear Creek being
the son of this Peter Wagner and his first wife, Barbara Echen/Etchen.
Much appreciated,
Jane
