Hi!
Today I searched the LDS film #1314637, Jackson County IN probate. I found a few
references to a court case involving Sarah Weathers vs. William Sullivan.
I cannot make heads or tails of this case. I couldn't establish a relation between
Weathers and Sullivan. I couldn't even establish the exact cause of the action.
Records indicate that the action went back to 1828. It appears that Sullivan stood in the
way of Weathers having her dower assigned to her. The court initially ruled in her favor.
Sullivan then got a stay on execution of the ruling. Then eventually won the case.
From Vol. 1, page 336 May 1837.
page 360; Sarah Weathers assigned dower.
pp. 376-378; 14 August, 1837; Weathers recovers $186 against William Sullivan.
The Weathers family has connections with my Shelton family. I don't know how Sarah
relates to my family.
