I've "rescued" an old photograph identified only as "Mom BODE"
which was
taken at the E. M. Maynard Studio in Sabetha, KS. The photograph appears to
have been taken in the 1890's with the photograph of an infant of less than
one year. I believe that this is a photograph of Lela Ione LUKERT BODE.
Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information
regarding Lela and her family:
Lela Ione LUCKERT was b. 21 Aug 1891 in Sabetha, KS to parents George LUKERT
(b. 27 May 1865 in Hofen, Germany) and Myrtle Irene GEIGER (b. 30 May 1873
in Lagro, IN-1963). Lela was one of 4 children born to this couple
including, Lela Ione; Irene Pearl; Harvey Edwin; and George V. LUKERT, all
born between 1891 and 1902. Lela's Mother remarried and had another
child, Juanita Myrtle IRWIN (1913-1994). Lela married Oscar George BODE (b.
20 Aug 1889 in Cortland, IN-1979) in Hiawatha, KS on 6 Aug 1913 and together
they had three children including, George Frederick BODE b. 11 Nov 1914,
Dorothy Ione BODE b. 30 Mar 1917, and Charles BODE (1927-2010), the first
two born in Sabetha, KS.
Lela died 31 Dec 1990 in Roswell, NM.
I am hoping to locate someone from Lela's family so that the photograph can
be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family,
or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
