August was the son of Herman Gerhard Friedrich Rotert who was born in Broxten, Venne
Parish, Germany. His mother was Maria Elisabeth Strunk, also from Venne. This family
immigrated in 1870. He was a Heuermann. Your August, their son, was born Feb 15, 1861 in
Germany, and died July 21, 1943 near Waymansville, Indiana. He is buried in Row 7 at St.
Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery, Waymansville, Bartholomew Co., Indiana. He married Maria
Elisabeth Baute. She was born Oct 14, 1862, and died Dec 12, 1906 near Waymansville, but
her death was registered in neighboring Jackson County. She is buried at St. Peter also.
August and Maria Elisabeth were married May 17, 1888 at Waymansville. I have seen no
reference in our church records that indicate August married a second time. However,
another Rotert researcher said he was married two or three times. I am sorry I do not
have that information.
The entry by Pastor Schulz in the record book of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Waymansville,
Bartholomew County, Indiana, reads:
