Marie,
I have checked the History of Jackson Co, IN and one of the Obit books by
Jonette K. Johnson and didn't find anyhthing to connect, other than maybe
mention of Gov. Oliver Morton.
I am researching the Robert Holmes, John Wesley Holmes family of Jackson
Co., IN. Do you have any connection here?
Regard,
Barb Holmes

Subject: [INJACKSO-L] Morton Mills/Indiana
I have posted this before so forgive me if I'm repeating myself
but Morton
is my "needle in the haystack". I'm holding out hope that a new
participant
could help.
I am seeking information on Morton Mills, born May 20, 1823 in Indiana and
died November 21, 1851 in Jackson County, Indiana. He married Parthena
Eastin/Easton on March 22, 1842 in Jackson County. In 1848 he purchase
several acres of land in Lawrence County, Indiana. Morton is buried in
Liberty Cemetery, Jackson County.
Morton and Parthena had 4 known children: James Patterson, John J., Mary E
and an infant that died at a young age.
Also, in Jackson County, Indiana, within a 4 year period, there were 2
other
marriages of individuals with the last name of Mills. Possibly someone
might
have these names in their records and, being in the same county during
the
same period of time, they could be related to Morton. An Elizabeth Mills
married a James Eastin/Easton in 1847 and a Mary Ann Mills married a
Richard
Newkirk in 1846.
I am interested in any direction that would lead me to Morton's parents or
siblings.
Any help anyone could give me to point me in the direction of Morton's
parents, siblings, etc. would really be appreciated.
Thank you.
Marie
