My name is Darrol Pierson.
I recently learned that a 5 great grand father lived and died in Redding
Twp, Jackson Co., and that my 4 great grand father also lived there before
moving to Monroe Co., IA. Nathan Gilbert died in 1841 and is buried in
Reddington Cemetery along with his wife. William Gilbert, my 4ggf, is in
1850 census in Jackson Co., but by 1860 he appears in Monroe Co, IA.
For the last several weeks I have been studying the Jackson Co. descendants
of Nathan Gilbert. Among the surnames that become involved are Baldwin,
Davis, McClintock, Shannon, Kovener, and several others.
Among the things I am hoping to find are letters sent between Gilberts in
Monroe Co., IA and those in Jackson Co., IN.
I plan to search Jackson Co newspapers for interesting biographical info
about the Gilbert family and the various descendants.
I was wondering if the Jackson County Genealogy Society is still publishing
Genealogy Jottings? If so, what is it's publication frequency? Are the
books published by the Jackson County Genealogy Society still for sale
(ie the 1989 Redding Township Cemetery book).
I look forward to hearing from all of you.
