Hi Deborra,
I have ancestors who were in the Jackson Co from 1829 to around 1856. My
Grgrandfather left a wife somewhere in Ind with several Children and went to
Susanville Ca abt 1860? and mar my GRgrandmother there when she was 16 and
he was 34. He just left 1st wife and never told where he was or went back.
I have to prove the ones I found to maybe be his.
Now as to your's moving all the time . Some men up and said they were going
west and never returned leaving families and then remarried without letting
anyone know. I found this in several in my Gen.
Also many young mothers died after giving birth to 1st or some births after
that. My Granfathe's mother died and he was first and lived . In same line
his granmother with the birth of the 4th and both died. Then some had 12
and up to 20 and lived to be in their 80's and 90's.
So you think your's moved around a lot, you may find the reason. I even had
a GGGuncle who was mar to two women at same time in two adjoing states in
1840. 2nd one didn't know abt the other only that she had died or so he told
her but in fact the first didn't die till almost 4 yrs after he mar the
2nd..
I also had a gr. uncle that had an illigitimate dau before he mar his 1st
wife and I found out when the grgranddau's husband doing Gen went looking
for him and I saw the querry in a magazine and had pictures of the father
etc. 137 yrs later the family found out that they had a whole bunch of
descendant cousins as this child ended up having 10 ch that all went on to
have and multiply.
I don't remember seeing any people by that name in the censuses but I had
looked in an index book and located mine before I went to the film's so I
hadn't searched through all names.
You might locate some index books for 1830 and 1840 on Ind. and check
those.
Maybe someone in Ind. will look in these index books and give you a list of
these people of your surnames and the county and twp's and page # from the
index.
How about a hand for our Canadian neighbor for this look up, anyone on the
Indiana List??

Hi Jackson Co Rooters!
I'm have been combing Indiana trying to find my CASIAH/KEZIAH/KIZIAH
family. If swear if I ever track them down I'm nailing their shoes to the
floor! I think they moved every time the rent came due.
However I found these Kiziah marriages in Jackson Co. and now I'm trying to
determine what years the Kiziahs were in Jackson Co and which of my
ggg-grandfather's brothers was father of these young people.
KIZIAH, JOHN m WILSON, ELIZA 11-24-1834 (are these the same fellow?)
KIZIAH, JOHN m ELKINS, HANNAH 10-08-1836
KIZIAH, POLLY m HILL, JOHN 04-15-1831
The Kizahs not in that portion of the 1850 census which is on-line. Does
anyone have access to an 1830/40 index or census and time/inclination to
do a quick look up for me? I would be ever so grateful! I'd also be
delighted to find anyone who was even remotely related to my elusive
Kiziahs!!
I also found this Washington Co marriage:
Elkins Kesiah married Moses Elmore, 6-23-1844
Thanks!!
