Thanks to a helpful researcher I have a new piece of the puzzel to present. I am looking
for Lucinda Day who married Dr. Jeremiah Brower in Jackson Co IN in 1826.
According to Lucinda's son Chancellor Brower b. 1833 MO, his mother was born in
Indiana. (Now we know census reports are always accurate...)
I estimate Lucinda to be born about 1801 to 1806 in Indiana or in the EAST.
According to: "Jackson Co. Obits 1854 to 1880" by Jonette K. Johnson, here is
the NEW INFO:
JAMES S. DAY, ESQ., died at his residence in Hamilton Twsp., near Courtland, Wed. Feb 18,
1874, age 66 yrs. He was born near Bardstown, KY. and came to Hamilton twsp. at about 54
yrs of age.
His wife ABIGAIL BROWER died in 1862. Of a family of 9 children, 5 survive the parents.
The remains of Mr. Day were deposited in the DAY burial ground on the day following
death.
BIQ QUESTION HERE: WHO IS THIS ABIGAIL BROWER BORN ABOUT 1808 OR AFTER??? Is she related
to our BROWER family which arrived in Jackson Co IN about 1826 (or earlier) ????
From my own notes in previous research, I find that according to the "History of
Jackson Co. IN" James S. Day of Hamilton Twsp was a prominant member of the Baptist
Church.
At the BLM land records you find James S. Day with land records in Jackson Co IN from
3-28-1832 to 1856.
On of the earliest settlers to Brownstown Twsp, Jackson Co IN was Aaron C. Day, who
arrived 1811. He also has land records there from 1825 to 1834
2 more DAY obits:
1. Christine Ann Day a member of the Hamilton twsp Grange died April 26, 1876, age 36 and
12 days.
2. Mrs. David Day, of near Courtland, died April 27, 1876, age 44. A husband and 2
children survive her.
**MY NOTE** the above 2 obits are only 1 day apart, and the same address, and the same
surname. Most likely related to the James S. Day family.
Best regards,
Lillian Kathleen Martin
