ON a visit several years ago to Jackson Co, I stumbled upon a newspaper article that
mentions 3 BESS children who died in a housefire in 1876; is there a listing in any of
the
cemetery books there, that list where these children are buried, or what would have
happened to their poor little bodies at that time. There ages were listed as 7, 5, 3; and
their names would be Mary, Carrie, and Johnnie; I have the newspaper article on them, but
it doesn't list their names, I know their names from family information; the article
does list their ages. Does not state where they are buried. I have a cemetery book, but
it doesn't not cover all the cemeteries in Jackson Co; they had lived in Reddington;
and there are several
graves listed without names, and some of the graves give 3 burials in certain
cemeteries
but still doesn't address who is buried there. I just thought there might be hope
into finding
their bodies in a cemetery somewhere?
These children belonged to James Thomas Best and Eliza Jane Drury. Would anyone know
where Eliza's body is laid to rest also? Her mother was married to Wm. Glossen. Both
her mother and sister died of Miningitis, almost a year prior to Eliza's death. She
also
died one year prior to her children's deaths.
I still haven't found a connection between my James Best and Andrew J. Best? Both
living
in Jackson Co., at the same time, and mustered in the CW in Bartholomew Co..
Could Andrew's mother be a LOPP (surname) who was living in Harrison Co., IN?
Could Andrew's father have been my James' father's brother?
Does anyone have any records that could do this look-up for me. Doesn't seem like
I'm
going to get to go to Clark Co., for Thanksgiving, let alone be able to be there when
the
gov't buildings are open, that I need, when I do get to go?
Thanks ahead of time,
Melanie Wayman
