Dear List Members,
In case you haven't visited in a while, I've made a few additions to the
Jackson County site (
http://www.rootsweb.com/~injackso/ ) , including the
following:
- On the Jackson County Genealogical Society's list of publications/order
form, added information on how to order the two-volume set of the 1880
Jackson County Federal census.
- On the Lookups page, added the name of a volunteer (Carol Stultz) willing
to do lookups in the Salt Creek Cemetery book.
- On the main page, added an explanation of how to submit transcribed Jackson
County records to the USGenWeb Archives site.
- On the main page, added instructions on how to search old messages sent to
this mailing list.
- On the main page, added instructions on how to browse through old messages
sent to this mailing list.
- On the main page, added links to two "classified advertising" pages that
RootsWeb has set up for Jackson County in conjunction with their "resource
cluster" page for Jackson County. One page is for posting information about
genealogical books, services, materials, equipment related to Jackson County
that is for sale, and the other is for posting queries about genealogical
books, services, etc. that you're looking for. The postings to these pages
are not monitored by RootsWeb (although they maintain the pages) or me, so
it's "buyer/seller beware" if you follow through on any of the postings. If
you're on the lookout for something to buy, you can submit your e-mail
address to be notifed by RootsWeb of any new postings to either of these
pages. (This is similar to how you can submit an e-mail message to be
notified of postings to any of the GenConnect boards set up for Jackson
County.
I'm still scouting around trying to get ideas on how to add to the site
information about specific families, couples, etc., such as birth, death, and
marriage dates, family trees, etc. without lots of typing or HTML programming
on my part. (This would be in addition to all the GenConnect boards, which
really should be used for smaller amounts of information.) If you see
anything that looks like it would be helpful to visitors but not really
time-consuming for the "webmaster," please let me know so I can check it out
too.
Lastly, I'm working on adding a calendar to the site for posting information
about meetings, family reunions, and other events that might be of interest
to visitors to the site. I'll let you know more about this once it's up and
working.
Well, that's it for now. Enjoy the weekend and good luck with your research!
Sincerely,
Dolores Lombardi
