Cindy Abrams ~ do you know where there might be records from the past on this "poor
farm"? I cannot find my 3rd great grandfather and I do know that his daughter Jane
lived in Jackson County for quite some time but can't find her past 1870 I think it
is. She married both times in Washington County, Indiana and he (Frederick
Waughtel) married his second wife in Washington County also and he was admitted to
the asylum there but evidently released in 1836 according to a newspaper tidbit I
have been able to find. But after that he's lost <grin>. His son James who is
my
2nd great grandfather lived his years in Jennings County as did my great grandfather
John until his death in 1932. Thanks for any information anyone might be able to
send my way.

Wanda,
I don't know if you mean an insane asylum or what, but I do know that
there was a "poor farm" in Brownstown at one time. Perhaps at one time it
was referred to as an asylum. It has since been torn down.
