William Lett was born 8 Mar 1851 in Indiana to John H Lett and Zerelda Ann Randall.
William appears on the 1860 census of Jennins county IN as an 8 year-old in his
father's household, and again in the 1870 census as an 18 year-old. His occupation in
1870 was "driving team" as was his older brother, Balaam, who later became
postmaster of Surprise, Indiana. Their father, John H Lett was listed in 1870 as a
teamster. Another brother, Thomas J Lett, died in the Cival war and is buried at
Gettysburg. The parents were able to draw a pension on Thomas Lett's service, and that
is my source for William's date of birth. Other than the information just given, I can
find no other information on William.
Any additional census records, possible marriage records, or other leads would be greatly
appreciated.
