King, James--Died on Sun. the 6th inst., at his home in Vernon Twp., in the
66th year of his age.

King, Johanna, Wife of Fred King, of Redding twp., is dead. Fred himself died
only a few weeks ago. He was drawing a Pension of $72.00 per month for total
blindness. There being no children under 16, the pension will not stop.

Koenig, Fredrick better know as Fred King, who lived near Peter's switch, 4
miles north of here, died Wed. of fever. He enlisted as a private int he 32nd
Ind. Volunteers. On account of bravery he was soon promoted to Lieutenant &
transferred to Co.. M., 39th Indiana. He was a member of Sherman's army that
marched to the Sea. Soon after his discharge his eyesight began to fail, & in
a few yrs. he went entirely blind. He drew a pension of $72 a month. He was
buried Fri. by the Light Guards of this city, with the honors of war. He was
born in Prussia, emigrated to this county about 1850 & was 54 yrs. of age.

Mrs. E.G. King went to North Vernon this morning, in response to a dispatch
announcing the death of her brother, Harvey Tate, from the effects of a kick
from a horse, last night. He was only 18 years of age.
