Hello everyone!
After watching the emotional dedication to the Veterans of World War II on
CNN, both those here and gone before us, I checked the site to see if some of
the names of your relatives were listed (for Bataan members of my website). I
only found a few, so thought I would write you and let you know of this
website. It is the official website for the memorial.
Some of the records of those KIA are already listed, as 2 of the 4 sources
they utilized were the American Battle Monument Commission and National
Archives. Those veterans who either were not KIA during the war (and have passed
since) or are still living are eligible to be memorialized on this site. The
Memorial in DC does not have names listed, but 4,000 gold stars (each representing
100 persons KIA).
Please also pass this along to anyone you know who might have a relative or
loved one who served in World War II. This memorial is well overdue and it
would be my hope that each and every man and woman who served be memorialized for
those generations to come.
I wish you all the very best during this Memorial Day weekend, while we
reflect on a past and honor those who served for our freedom today.
Warmest Regards,
Etta
