In the 1870 census for Jackson County there is a James House listed with
wife Ebelin (?) & children. In the next household is Jane Summa & several
of her children. I am trying to prove (or disprove) that Ebelin is in fact
Sophia E. Summa (Starks by birth if I am following my notes correctly). I
have a marriage record for Sophia Starks to James A. House on October 6,
1862. Now my reasoning is this: Jane Summa was born Jane Waughtell and
married Enoch Starks in 1838. In 1840 she marries John Summa. In the 1850
census the first two children, although shown as Summa according to their
ages should be Stark. And since Sophia married under Stark I believe I am
on the right track. Is there anyone researching either the Summa, Stark/s
and/or House lines that could help me here. Jane Waughtell Starks Summa was
a sister of my 3rd great grandfather James Waughtel of Jennings County.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
