To celebrate the recent acquisition of the Lawrenceport Methodist church,
with plans to open a Circuit Rider Museum and research center, the members
of the Bishop Robert R. Roberts Memorial Assn., Inc. of Lawrence County
Indiana invite you to join us at the little church near the crossroads in
Lawrenceport, IN at Two O'clock on Sunday afternoon August 29.2004.
Each year there are several months having five Sundays
On each of these Sundays the association plans to hold service.
The service will be in the style of the old time preaching of the circuit
rider.
When possible it will be a reenactment of an old a sermon as it was
originally delivered
Rev. Jack Haskins, from Washington, Indiana will kick off the Bishop Robert
R. Roberts Memorial Association Fifth Sunday Series at the Lawrenceport
Church
He has chosen for his subject, The Preaching of the Early Methodist Circuit
Rider,
with emphasis on the following:
All people are sinners
Christ died for our sins
All people can be saved
All people can know they are saved
All people can be saved to the uttermost
All people can be saved eternally
Rev. Haskins started his service in the South Indiana Conference in 1959 as
an Associate at the Trinity Church in New Albany. He was the Columbus
District Superintendent in 1985 to 1989. He retired in 1991 and serves as an
interim preacher whenever he is needed.
Rev. Haskins also taught history at Washington, Indiana High School making
him an exemplary contributor to and supporter of the goal of The Bishop
Robert R. Roberts Memorial Center, which is to teach history that is
interesting,...to all who will listen.
We are currently looking for a volunteer for the program for
October 31, 2004
(the next Fifth Sunday of 2004).
