Hi! I too am descendent of the Morgan, Bridgewater,Coughman, McConnell families. I have been to the Bridgewater Cemetary outside of Vienna, In. and found soe of the McConnells graves. My Grandmother Mary Ethel(McJimsey)Jones is buried at Young Cemetery outside Grand River, Ia. I have several pictures of some of thte stones. Keziah is buried there also. I am in the process of scanning them to my family tree. I would love to receive any information that anyone else might have. I am now trying to get back into this. I'm very interested in the discussion of Mary Ann Morgan having indian bloodlineage. I can't seem to find out anything about her family or much abaout her fathers. Kathy

Found A David W. age 23 with "Thurza" age 18 and 7/12 yr old Darcus M. in the 1860 census of Owen Township, Jackson County, IN.
In 1870 US federal census of Owen Township, Jackson County Indiana found D.W. Gray age 33 and "Thursa" with children named "Gray" aged 10,9, 4 and 2. It appears that at least one and possibly two children are "missing" between the 9 yr old and the 4 year old. You would need to check the Owen Township cemetery book, which I do not have, to see if you can find a burial.

Dear Jackson County cousins,
Did David and Theresa have a child named Doris who died young and may have been born in the 1860's? Thanks for any help you can give me.
Carol

Please send me the link when your blog is up! Do you happen to know if all the Engels and Bettenbrocks were related? I've mailed in my order to HCGS this morning, and can hardly wait to receive it. There's an informational phone number for ordering the Venne in America book: 513-956-7078.

Johann Fr Engel (b1806) and Regine Bettenbrock (b1807) are listed in Udo Thoerner's book Venne in America, which was just published in English in 2009. He has an entire chapter on Indiana immigrants, especially Seymour and about 10 Engel listings, including John Heinrich Engel who married my husband's ancestor Marie Engel Büning. And 14 Bettenbrocks!
You may order the book from Hamilton County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical society, P.O. Box 15865, Cincinnati, Ohio 45215. Checks made out to HCCOCGS for $32 incl $4 postage. Please excuse me if I have replied to your message already. I have received many inquiries about Venne and the book. Hope to have the Venne blog up in a few months.

Good to hear from you and the wonderful story about your grandmother meeting her relatives with Udo and Doris. One note: the book VENNE IN AMERICA is not listed at the Hamilton county Ohio Genealogy website since they did not publish it, but they are the distributor. The book may be ordered from Hamilton County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical society, P.O. Box 15865, Cincinnati, Ohio 45215. Make checks out for $32 (includes $4 postage)to HCCOGS. I would add that the book is a must-have for anyone with ancestors from northwestern Germany since it tells in such detail the immigration story from their lives in Germany to their new lives in America.
