The Mary Nicholson (Nickleson)and Nathan Draper marriage record of 1819 in Washington Co, Indiana is for Nathan Draper Jr., the son of the Nathan Draper whose will is registered in 1822 in Jackson County. The wife Mary named in this 1822 will is Mary Guyer whom Nathan Draper married in 1797 in Pasquotank County, NC. The Suttons Creek Monthly Meeting Minutes state that he married contrary to discipline and he was subsequently disowned. However he was was reinstated to the Suttons Creek Monthly meeting in 1805 and five years later was granted a certificate to Back Creek Monthly Meeting in Randolph County in central North Carolina. Nathan Draper and his family moved on to Indiana in 1816 to Blue River Monthly Meeting, Washington County, Indiana. About this time, a large number of Quakers left North Carolina because of their objection to slavery.

I wish I could tell you more. I don't know if she was born in Seymour as my father met her in California probably in 1945 as he got out of the Navy in Feb. 1946, and was supposed to meet her back in Seymour. He was planning on marrying her but his parents objected. I'm guessing that her son was born in Seymour about 1940-1944?? This is based on her being born about the same time as my father (1924). There is no one left alive who can provide me further information on this end. I also don't know if she remarried when she returned from CA. I am hoping someone might have access to marriage and divorce information or perhaps newspapers that mention Ruth ? going to or returning from California. I don't know if she was there in 1930 but I checked the census because it was the most current information available on who lived in Seymour. I wish the 1940 census was available as that might help. This is probably a futile search but I would like to add a surname to the photo only known!
as "Ruth" from Seymour, IN. Thanks for any advice.

Need more info if you have it: y
You say she was "from Seymour." Does that mean she was born in Seymour, was there at the time of the marriage or son's birth, or lived there in the 1930's? Do you know the year of the son's birth? Do you know if she remarried?

I have been searching for a woman named "Ruth" from Seymour, Jackson, IN. for many years now. She was born around 1924-1929. I found 18 possibles in the 1930 Census. This "Ruth" married, had a son, and divorced. She moved to California during the war (about 1941-1944)and then returned to Seymour. If anyone has access to marriage or divorce records and could help me with this limited information, I would appreciate it so much! My father had a picture of her but no last name.
