I am planning a one day trip to Jackson County and probably will spend it in Brownstown, maybe an hour or two in Seymour. First, I am trying to find a death record on a Crow who died in 1883. From the computer I see that death records were kept by counties at that time. Did Jackson Co do this also? If so, I will stop at the Health Dept in Seymour to check on this. Secondly, I understand that if a will is not left, the estate went into probate. So wouldn't there be records for either his will or the probate proceedings in the records? What office at the court house do I go to to find this info? Are there indexes or does one just go through books? I ask this last question in order to know how to plan my time. I appreciate any help that can be given me. I want to use my time wisely since I am able to be there only one day. Thanks to anyone who can give me some guidance!

Does anyone have access to Carr Twp death records. A William Crow died in Sept 1883. I am attempting to track down information on him to see if I can find the name of his father and/or mother. He passed away at the home of his son Isaac in the Medora area. He would be my gg-grandather. Also his wife Caroline Jane Lane Crow. They married in Washington County, but lived in Jackson from around 1860 until his death. Caroline's name was on the 1870 census, but not on th 1880; so one would assume that she passed away during the time between the two census. If I have omitted any important info, please let me know. Thanks so much for any info you can send my way.

I posted on here a few weeks ago, and I just got in the mail today, my great grandmother's application for Social Security number.
In reguards to my great-grandmother Frances and her sister Fannie, their parents are listed as John Harden Durham & Mary Ellen Booker.
However, my great grandmother married John Logan Durham. And for everything I've found, John Logan Durham's father was John Harden Durham, with his mother being Eliza Ellen Trueblood.
Is it possible that a half-brother and sister married, or is the info on Ancestry.com out of whack, and I'll have to start from scratch on John Logan Durham?

I am hoping to find a volunteer to snap photos at Riverview Cemetery and e-mail me shots of a few gravestones.
Joseph Davis 1846-1927 & wife Flora Davis 1857-1935
J.L. Davis 1877-1942 & wife Luz Davis 1884-1966
I do not have the specific lot #s but they are listed in the Riverview Cemetery book.
Thank you.
I am not familiar with the Mitchells, although I have not researched for
them. My Collins ancestors married into the Richardson Hensley family; my
gg grandfather, Philip Kesner Collins, married Drusanne Hensley, a daughter
of Berryman Hensley (son of Richardson Hensley). I have reached a brick
wall beyond my Philip Kesner Collins, so if you have any information on them
I would very much appreciate it!
There were several males in the Hensley family in different generations
named Richardson - it sounds like yours may be a brother of Berryman, who
was born in 1773. Berryman's father was also named Richardson, as were
several descendants.
I found the following on the web:
"Susannah Hensley
b. November 5, 1802 d. January 22, 1886 in Mooresville, IN
Married: William Mitchell on Nov. 30, 1821
d. 1838 of malaria fever
(*The above two families accompanied Richardson Hensley to Johnson County,
IN about 1824 - 25 and bought adjoining land. Susannah Mitchell died at the
home of her son.)"
You may already have this - I will continue to look in my records.
Marilyn

| I am trying to find a person by the name of William Mitchel or Mitchell,
his middle name may be Albert. I was told he was born in Ireland, possibly
Northern Ireland around Ulster, around 1798 - 1800. I know that at some
point he lived in Jackson Co, Indiana because he married his wife, Susannah
Hensley there in 1821. They then moved to Johnson Co, Indiana with her
family, her father was Richardson Hensley. The Hensley family came here from
Kentucky. I am really stuck here and I would appreciate any help that anyone
could offer. I have a lot of other information on this family if anyone
would like anything that I can offer. Thank you for your help.
