Brown, Addison -- son of D.H. Brown, "editor" of the Seymour dept. of the
Banner, was shot through the heart by Wm. Postlethwaite, dying instantly. The
shooting occurred at the Peanut Anniversary Massquerade Ball at Seymour on
Mon. night. It is evident from the testimony elicited that Addison was
largely the aggressor, & that the killing was done in self-defense. (Feb. 26

Brown, Alexander-- aged 21 yrs., died in the county asylum last Fri., of
comsumption of the bowels. He was a son of Joseph Brown deceased. He was

Brown, Frank E.-- a provision dealer & an old citizen of our place, died
Wednesday. His twin bro., Francis W. Brown, who had charge of the Brownstown
schools many yrs. ago & now resides in Cincinnati, was constantly at his
bedside. Death was due to typhoid fever & heart disease. He had lived here
since early boyhood, having been born in Ohio, & was in the 43rd yr. of his
age. He was a member of Lincoln Lodge, No. 414, I.O.O.F., by whom he was
buried. The funeral took place from the Baptist church. ( Aug. 19- The

McNiece, Florence--wife of Geo. McNiece, died Nov. 11, of child-bed fever.
She was the dau., of Gordan Findley, who died several yrs ago. She leaves a
husband and infant child. Her remains were interred in the Corland cemetery.

Findley, Hugh A. -- Hugh A. Findley died at his home near Brownstown, Jan.
22. He had a stroke of gen. paralysis a few days before. He came to this
state when very young from Westmoreland, Pa., where he was born. He came to
this county in 1819. Mr. Findley was a large land holder, but of late yrs. he
had not added to his wealth. He leaves 11 heirs. He was in his 88th year.

Hugh A. Findley's funeral took place Sat. at the residence of Rev. Walter
Benton, after which the remains were conveyed to Durland grave yard &
deposited by the side of his wife, who died about 5 yrs. ago. Eight children
survive him-5 sons & 3 daus. - all living in this county & all married except
one dau., Miss Hettie. He also has 1 bro. & 3 sisters living. (Thurs., May

Vallonia news--Mirial, age 4 yrs., dau. of Wm. Sweaney, who now lives near
Bicknell, Knox Co., this State, & who formerly lived in Driftwood Twp., this
co., was burned to death on Feb. 18, 1875.

Samuel Sweeney, a youth of about 18, son of Mr. Thomas Sweeney, a farmer
living a few miles from town, shot himself last Saturday. June 11

Persinger, Alfed J. - Alfred J. Persinger breaathed his last Sat., of Typhoid
fever, aged about 26 years. About 2 yrs. ago he m. Miss Lu Sweeny. By his
woun request, he was buried by the side of their only child in the Ruddick
burial ground, 3 miles below Seymour. Sept. 5, 1878
