In the 1870 census there is a Mary J Davis age 49 born in England in
household of David Davis age 39 born in England, with Victoria Davis age 9
born in IN. There are 3 other Mary Davis's but not near the right age.

Hello Wanda,
I am looking for descendants of a John Davis and his bro. Joshua Davis b
Jun 1813 and Dec 1814 to Cassandra ( Keziah) French and William Davis.
Cassandra mar 1818 to a Moses Brannan in Franklin Co under name of Keziah
to Moses Apr 1818. Lived in Dearborn Co. The family moved to Jackson Co
1828 and the Davis boys also were there in 1830's. It was said they both
worked on the River boats, which unk to me. I wonder if your mary Jane
mother of younger one) was mar to one of these boys in the late 1830's or
1840's or later maybe as a 2nd spouce.
Do you have any on Mary Janes Davis line??

I'm searching for information on Ambrose & Elizabeth Thompson & their descendants. They arrived in Jackson County between 1858 & the 1860 Census. In the 1860 Census they are listed under Thomson. Any help will be appreciated.

Can anyone tell what type of records exist at the county courthouse in
Brownstown? I am especially interested in land records. I am trying to
build a case to prove the connection betweeen my ggrandfather and
gggrandfather. Since I'm taking a research trip to Indiana from Texas
next month, I'd appreciate any helpful hints you can give me about
existing records in Jackson County. Thank you for your help.
Debbie
In the past I have asked about the Acme and Surprise areas of Jackson
County. Unfortunately, I must have inadvertently deleted those e-mails.
Since I am making a research trip to Indiana next month, I would like to
know if anyone can tell me where these two areas are located in Jackson
County. My ggrandfather was a Methodist circuit rider for churches in
the Acme and Surprise areas. Does anyone know how I might find the
churches? I thought I remembered some information which said that one of
those churches was still standing today and that there might even be an
existing congregation with a written church history there now. I would
love to be able to photograph the area if I can find it or talk to any
members of the church living there now. Thank you for any help you can
offer.
Debbie
I just wanted to drop a short note to the list to let you all know that I
haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Despite my best intentions, I've
fallen behind in posting new surnames to the Jackson County pages and making
any other updates. My job has been keeping me extremely busy, and tomorrow
I'm leaving on a business trip and don't expect to be able to even check my
e-mail until late Sunday night at the earliest.
In the meantime, for any new members of the list who've sent me your surnames
and are anxious to get the word out about which families you're researching,
please don't hesitate to send a message (or messages) to this list and
introduce yourself and tell us which families you're looking for. I promise
to get your surnames posted sometime next week.
Thanks to all of you who've been waiting so patiently, and a big thanks, too,
to all the wonderful people on this list who are so generous with your time
in responding to questions sent to the list or just passing along great
information. Take care.
Sincerely,
Dolores Lombardi
This is to let all the subscribers to this list know I've responded to
Thelma's request for a response from the "listmaster." Thank you to whoever
directed her to me.
Sincerely,
Dolores Lombardi
Thelma - You sent request to the discussion list......who do you want to
email to you?
