Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Have you gotten any answers yet for this email? I might try to
go to the Seymour Library and see what can be found in
the newspapers from that time. I am not sure about Crothersville
newspapers names, (I live in Crothersville), but there probably
were some.

The only thing I have listed in my books for a Maggie Swift is a marriage to
Jacob H Littekan on October 18 1871. No birthdates listed. Nothing later
under Swift or Littekan.
Hi List
Can anyone help me find the 2nd marriage of my great grandmother ? It would
be after 1893, when her 1st husband died. I want to know the date, names
of the groom's parents, his age, etc. Her age, etc.
Bride = Margaret (Maggie) Leslie Swift , born approx 1861 but may have lied
about her age. She got younger as time went by & by the time she married 3rd
husband, she had shaved off a few years ! She was widow of George
Swift.
( her parents - Alexander and Margaret Leslie)
Groom= James Allen, a widower. Don't know anything else about him.
James Allen
Place= Indiana, perhaps Seymour or county.
Thank you to any kindhearted person who takes the time to look for me.

Hi,
I am looking into the final resting place/whereabouts of a Meredith
Stewart. He once was a State Police Officer in the 1930s and I have
been told that he was a sheriff of Jackson County before that.
Any help would be appreciated. At a minimum I am looking for a burial
site, or death date; if alive he would be in his mid nineties, I think.
Thanks.
Philip Naff.
I am new to the list and am researching the surname Pentecost/Penticost.
I have found the earliest Pentecost in Jackson Co in 1820 census index
as John Pendercost. Would like to correspond with anyone connected to
this family.
Thanks,
Debbie
I'm still looking for any information concerning which George SCIFRES (or any
spelling variation) married Elizabeth LENTZ about 1876 in southern Indiana.
There are multiple George SCIFRES which compounds the problem. ha ha. My
George and Elizabeth had the following children, Susan K. b. 09 Jan 1877,
Frank C. b. 1879 and James Alfred SCIFRES b. 1882.

Daniel,
Do you know the names of her siblings and the first names of the
Bettenbrocks? A lot of variation in spelling of surnames. In 1860 found a
John & Catherine Bettenboke in Washington Twp Jackson County. In 1850 found
a Frederick Shomaker age 42 with a Mary Shafer next residence age 55 both
born in Germany. Also have an Ingle Beddenbroke. If I can match up some of
the names might be able to help.
Bev
I need help with my BETZLER family.
Has anyone run across this surname?
Josephine BETZLER married Frederick
Adam HOLZER May 03, 1881.
Charles W. BETZLER married Minnie
Sophie MOLENCAMP before 1890.
According to Josephine's obituary she
had brothers Charles and John.
Both Josephine and Charles' obituary
states that they were natives of Seymour,
but I haven't found a census with them
there in childhood.
I would appreciate if anyone has knowledge
of this family to let me know.
Thank you, Anmarie in Phoenix
Bev,
Thank you for your help. My GR gr Grandmother was born in Indiana on Jan 1,
1855 and her name was Mary (Maria) A Schomaker. She is on the 1870 census
living with some bettenbrok's but I have been unable to find her anywhere on
the 1860 census. Again thanks for your help.
Daniel
Daniel,
Was you Gr gr grandmother born in IN, if so what was her name. I have 1860
CD for IN census. Also, nearest I could come to your names in IN 1850 and
prior marriage records was a John T Shoemaker m Catherine Shafer 3-30Hope
-1837 in Harrison County IN. I do know from my own family search that some
German families gave all the girls the same first name, such as Mary/.Maria
or Anna....then the girls went by their middle names. Could your Maria
Schaefer's middle name have been Catharine?
Hope this is of some help.
Bev

they were born in Indiana. Can Anyone Help me.
