Joel Maynes Geeting, 88, a resident of the community all his life, was found dead in bed
Wednesday morning at the home of his granddaughter. Mrs. Dortha Bowman, 204 South
Briant street. He had been ill two years. Mr. Geeting was born November
26,1863, in Huntington county to Noah and Susanah L. Geeting. He married Mary Ellen
Poorman May 2, 1885. The wife, two daughters, Mrs. Flora B. Lung and Mrs. Della M. Sisk; a
granddaughter, Mrs. Marie Barnes, five sisters and four brothers, are deSurviving are
the granddaughter. Mrs. Bowman, with whom Mr. Geeting had lived for 20 years;
six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and a brother, Owen Geeting, this
city.
Mr. Geeting, who was a lather by trade, was a member of the Evangelical United Brethren
church.
The body was removed to the Briggs funeral home where friends may call.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Friday in the Briggs chapel with the Rev. J.
Temple Wood officiating.
Burial will be in Pilgrims' Rest cemetery.
Funeral services for Joel Geeting were held at 2:30 p. m. Friday at the Briggs funeral
home with the Rev. J. Temple Wood officiating. Organ music was furnished by Miss Esther
DavisPallbearers were William Bowman, Charles Zell, Lawrence Kimmel, George Ott, William
Barnes and Earleon Ott. Interment was in Pilgrims Rest cemetery.
