Death of C.E. Foreman
Occurred at Washington, Indiana on Sunday Evening, May 15, 1904
Was Well-Known Here.
Remains are Brought to this City for Burial--Funeral held Wednesday.
Charles Foreman, who was formerly a resident of this city, died at Washington, Indiana,
Sunday night about half past ten o'clock. His death was due to strangulation of the
bowels and his sickness was only of few days duration. He had not been in good health for
several months, but lately had been feeling better and was able to look after his
business. On Wednesday of last week he was taken very sick and was told by the attending
physician that he could not recover. He thought that he would get better and would not
consent to have his relatives in this city notified of his illness. On Sunday he was so
much worse tha the physician sent a telegram to Mrs. Carrie Foreman, but before she could
get ready to go to her son's bedside a second telegram announcing his death was
received.
The remains were shipped to this city for burial and were accompanied by a Mr. Gill who is
an undertaker at Washington. The body was taken to the home of W.M. Richardson, the dead
man's father-in-law. The funeral was held from the Richardson home Wednesday
afternoon. The services were in charge of the K.O.T.M. of which the deceased was a
member, belonging at Terre Haute. Rev. Etter preached a short funeral discourse.
Charles Edgar Foreman was born at Lakin, Illinois, March 5, 1862. When he was four years
old his parents came to Indiana and settled in Lancaster where they lived until Charles
was sixteen years of age. They then moved to Warren where he attended school a number of
terms. He learned the butcher's trade under his father, James Foreman. He worked at
his trade here for a number of years and then went west where he remained for some time.
He afterwards returned to Warren and embarked in the meat business for himself. Six years
ago he moved to Terre Haute where he worked at his trade until failing health caused him
to give up his position and take employment with the Singer Sewing Machine Company. He
was quite successful and was advanced until at the time of his death he was superintendent
of one of the company's districts and had eight branch offices under his management.
He carried a two-thousand dollar insurance policy with the K.O.T.M. He is survived by his
mother, M!
rs. Carrie Foreman, of this city, and by one daughter, Grace, who has made her home for
the past two years with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Richardson.
