Former Huntington County Lady.
Mrs. Henry Stine, formerly a resident of this county, died at her home at Independence,
Kansas, Saturday, August 20, 1904. Her maiden name was Sarah E. Clampitt and she was born
in Stokes county, North Carolina, October 13, 1839. When she was thirteen years of age
she came to Huntington county where she continued to reside until 1876 when she and her
husband moved to Kansas and settled on a form near Independence. Twelve years ago they
removed to the city of Independence where they have since resided. She was an earnest
Christian lady, and with almost her last breath attempted to sing "Nearer, My God, to
Thee"
September 27, 1866, she was united in marriage to Henry Stine who survives her. To them
was born one daughter, Mrs. Minnie E. Wilson, who is still living. Besides these
immediate relatives she has living one grand-daughter, one sister and four brothers. The
funeral was held Monday from the late residence of the deceased. Mrs. Stine has a large
number of relatives in this vicinity.
