David Eiler Wells Co. Pioneer,
Died Thursday at the Remarkable Age of 91.
David Eiler, one of the early settlers of Wells county, died near Bluffton on Thursday of
last week and was buried at Batson cemetery Saturday. Mr. Eiler was born near Dayton,
Ohio, and, had he lived until the 15th of June, would have been 91 years old. He was the
oldest of a family of 12 children. He was twice married, having twelve children by his
first wife and one by the second who survives him. He leaves five children one of whom is
Mrs. Susannah Williamson of this city, thirty five grandchildren and forty-four
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Eiler came to Wells county in 1841 and settled on a large farm just south of Boehmer.
This farm he cleared from the forest and experienced the hardships of pioneer life.
