Kyle E. Mason, 80
A former Markle resident, Kyle E. Mason, 80, of Berne died Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, at
Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Mason worked for K & K Tool & Die in Markle for 15 years before retiring. He
had opened the Waynedale Bakery in 1956 and operated it until 1987.
His baking career began in the military and he later worked at Neter?s Bakery in
Huntington and the Bon Ton Bakery in Fort Wayne.
A 1944 graduate of West Rockcreek High School, Mr. Mason was a World War II Army veteran
and attended Markle United Methodist Church.
He was a 50-year Mason, being a member of Bluffton Masonic Lodge #145 and the Fort Wayne
Valley of the Scottish Rite. He was born on Sept. 9, 1926, in Kokomo.
His marriage on Oct. 19, 1947, at Markle United Methodist Church was to Joan (Fisher)
Mason, who survives.
Other survivors include daughters Joellen F. (Lloyd W.) Meyer of Ossian and Rhonda Lee
(Jay) Lehman of Houston, Texas; a son, Roger Kyle (Debra) Mason of Austin, Texas; brothers
Paul Mason of Uniondale and Oliver Mason of Frankfort, Ky.; 10 grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Arnold and Carl Mason and a granddaughter.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday in the Auditorium at Swiss Village in Berne, and from
4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Markle United Methodist Church.
Services are at 11 a.m. Saturday at Markle United Methodist Church with Pastor Kathie S.
Jones officiating. There is additional calling one hour prior to services Saturday at the
church.
Burial will be in Markle Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to Markle United Methodist
Church. Elzey Patterson Rodak Funeral Home, Ossian, is in charge of the arrangements.
