The area was mostly of the Miami Tribe, other tribes were in the area here and there or to
trade like the Delaware. There are Cherokee Rolls (census) that you can check, but I
would not put much stock in the story unless you can prove her parentage and can find the
family in the rolls. You would be able to look through some books on that subject at a
local genealogy library most likely. I don't have any of the three books on the
subject myself. Andrea

Subject: [INHUNT] Question for all
Peter Fouts married 31 March 1839
Jerusha Denend (RE: Marriage record)
now for the fun part and I can not confirm
or deny this but it was said that Jerushas'
daughters or at least one of them being
Sarah Jane who married Golias Bonebrake was Cherokee.
The information I have was just recently
brought to my attention but the lady who
gave me this did not have any sources to
back up this evidence.
Meaning that another one of their daughters' Martha Ann or Etla who
married my Wm Cralle Fowlkes was
also of Cherokee descent as was another
daughter Mary Caroline who married
Samuel Staley.
If this is so what Cherokee tribes were in
and around the IN area? Especially the
Huntington Co Area?
Can anyone help with this family? Thanks
