Message Board Post:
I am restoring and refinishing an old caswell-runyan cedar chest for a friend. The cedar
chest was purchased in or around 1924 when my friends' grandmother was married. I
have read the history of the Caswell-Runyan Co., but was hoping to find more detailed
information about the chest. The serial number, which was at one time on a small piece of
paper glued inside the lid, is missing. There is a hand-written (in pencil, too) number
on the inside of the lid, as well as on the bottom, underneath. That number is 6522. The
metal plate/emblem for the company is also under the lid.
Can anyone tell me where I can search for the "history" of this piece?
