Hello, I am so happy to see this series! I am retired and in Alabama - dependent upon the
Internet to do my Indiana RANDOL relatives. May I ask for the same favor as the other
person?
Mt Hope Cemetery is also of interest to me.
My relative = ALONZO RANDOL
[May be spelled RANDOL, RANDALL, or other]
b 28 Nov 1847 ,LaGrange Co., Indiana
[His DC & 1900 US Census have b 1847; his obit has 1848]
d 31 Dec 1903 ,Huntington Co., Indiana
He is also supposed to be buried in Mt. Hope Cem.
Thanks to great online databases and RAOGK Volunteer, Carole Hacker, I have been able to
determine the specific b&d information for my relative ALONZO RANDOL:
Indiana Death Records database on
Ancestry.com:
Alonzo Randol
Date: 31 Dec 1903
Location: Huntington Co.
Age: 56 yr
Gender: Male
Race: White

Thanks to CA Hacker, I now have an OBIT:
"Huntington Herald Press," Jan 1, 1904, page 5, column 4
DEATH OF ALONZO RANDOL
Alonzo Randol died Thursday at 6:30 at his home, 46 Halstead Street. He was sick many
months and for a year unable to perform any labor. His birth place was in LaGrange county,
this state, the having been Nov. 28, 1848. He leaves a wife and eight children in very
moderate circumstances. The funeral will be Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the
residence. Rev. C. C. Beatty officiating. Interment in Mt. Hope."
Note: The street mentioned in the obit, Halstead, is now Swan Street.

I ordered and received Alonzo's Death Certificate:
Mt. Hope Cemetery is where his Indiana Death Certificate [#255] says he is going to be
buried. He NOT listed on Find-a-grave. I am hoping to get confirmation of his burial.
Is there a schematic of the Cemetery available online or Inventory for the cemetery
besides Find a Grave?
The 2nd part of my question is:
Who is buried next to ALONZO RANDOL [or other spelling]?
The only wife I have identified for him =
LAURA ANN ALLMAN
b 20 Dec 1851 ,, Ohio, USA
d 10 Jul 1943 Anderson, Madison Co., Indiana
Laura remarried 2 times and is buried in:
Old Vinson Cem. Summitville, Van Buren Twp., Madison Co., Indiana
I have pretty good info on Laura and 7 of 9 children that Alonzo and Laura had together.
I wonder if the 8th child mentioned in Alonzo's obit and indicated on the 1900 US
census might be buried with Alonzo in Mt Hope Cem.(?) In fact, the 1900 Census indicates
that Alonzo and Laura had 9 children and 1 had d before the Jun 5th 1900 census date.
So there may be 2 children's graves with Alonzo(?)
I want to know if Alonzo ever remarried? I ask because another researcher believes Alonzo
is the same Alonzo who married a woman named Elizabeth Almira Christman and had at least
one son named Manford Arrie Randol or Randall.
My thinking is that if Alonzo did remarry perhaps his 2nd wife is buried beside or near
him(?)
I have never been to Indiana and likely will not be able to make a trip . . . so geography
is a challenge to me. Is the following correct?
Mt. Hope Cemetery is in Huntington Co., Indiana
GPS Coordinates: Latitude: 40.87664, Longitude: -85.51752. Another source has:
Mount Hope Cemetery
1700 W Park Dr
Huntington, In 46750
(260) 356-6448
Lat: 40°52'42"N, Lon: 85°31'03"W

Please advise me on what my steps should be to determine burial information for ALONZO
RANDOL [or other spellling]and other graves for a possible wife and possibly 2 other
children b to him in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Respectfully yours,
Sally RANDOL-Hardy
Springville, Alabama
