William M. Shreve, farmer and stock raiser, is a native of Lewis County, W. Va., born
November 15th, 1823, to Jacob R, and Susannah (Wamsley) Shreve, of the same State. The
parents in an early day emigrated to Monroe County, Ohio, and subsequently moved to Union
County, where they resided until their respective deaths. The following are the names of
their children, viz.: Margaret, William M, James, Thomas, Mary, Melvina, Samuel and
Harrison Shreve. William M. Shreve was raised a farmer, and spent the years of his youth
and early manhood in Virginia and Ohio. June, 1847, he was united in marriage with Miss
Eliza Zent, daughter of Samuel and Eliz (Hega) Zent, of Stark County, Ohio, who has borne
him four children, to wit: Emma, Mattie, Katie A., and Cora M. Mr. Shreve, in the fall of
1859, moved to Huntington County, Ind., and settled upon the farm, where he has since
resided, near the town of Roanoke. He is a substantial citizen, and one of the
