Comment: "We were all born and delivered at home by Dr. Eviston, who named Herbert,
the last son. We would line up the stairway until we could come out to see the new
baby."
Comment 5: He was driving a load on a small truck one time when he lost control when a
tire blew out. His helper was killed and Claude was thrown in a field. It upset him so
that it made him want to reitre in 1970.
Comment 6: Herbert, with his son Randy, bought his Dad's business. He got the job to
haul voting machines bafk and forth until 1991 when ill health would not allow it.
Comment 7: Gene Fleck bought the business and kept the name which Herb would be proud to
know and he is doing a fine job.
Comment1: "We had cows, pigs, sheep and chickenss. Dad always did our butchering,
which was an all day job, doing sausage and curing hams.
Comment3: Claude was able to buy a truck in 1936 to start his own business. They called
the husiness Hoover and Sons, for Charles, James and Herbert.
Comment4: He soon became an agent for Mayflower and Wheaton Van Lines, plus doing all the
hauling of huge rolls of paper for printing to the Post Office, Farmers Guide and Sunday
Visitor back then, in Huntington.
