Bill,
The message from "smcbride26" is the location of the cemetery, where Jacob and
Anna Marie are buried, in Northern Huntington county. The cemetery was overgrown until
boy scout troop cleaned up the small lot. The stones were reset. I do not have photos of
the stones. The Ulrich mentioned in "smcbride26" message would be Jacob's
brother (son of Ulrich and Louisa Corell).
Do you have the "The Lahr Families" history from the Huntington Herald Press?
If not, I can send what I have of it your way (stlandersons(a)hotmail.com). The main part
of interest for you would be:
Ulrich, the last of the four sons of Jacob Lahr, was born in 1792. After his marriage to
Elizabeth Correll, they started their career on a farm near the community of Alzei in
Hesse. However their trading center was in the town of Weinheim. Their children were (1)
Jacob, (2) Susana Mary, (3) John, (4) Ulrich II, (5) Philip, (6) Elizabeth, (7) Peter, (8)
Fred, (9) Margaret, and (10) William. Margaret and William died during their infancy and
were buried at Weinheim. This entire family in time became permanent settlers in
Huntington county.
and...
Jacob, the first born of Ulrich and Louisa Corell-Lahr remained in Germany ten years after
his parents, brothers and sisters left for America. Jacob was born February 10, 1812.
His first marriage was to Anna Marie Fowerbaugh, a widow with one son, William Fowerbaugh,
a widow with one son, William Fowerbaugh, Jr. Mrs. Fowerbaugh-Lahr was born April 4,
1810. After their marriage they left for Stetten in Rhine, Bavaria...
Always a pleasure to have some written history. You've been blessed with a wonderful
biography of Laban Allred.
Your very, very distant cousin,
Rex Anderson
