Death of James McFadden.
James McFadden was born in Wayne County, Pa., June 23, 1810 and departed this life
December 16, 1899. aged 89 years, 5 months and 23 days.
At the age of six years he moved with his parents to Wayne Co., O., where he grew to
manhood and where he received a common school education. At the age of twenty-one years
he left home and for two years traveled in Illinois and Wisconsin, spending a year in each
state. He left Ohio twice to make his home in the West, but each time returned and on the
8th of October, 1840, was united in marriage to Sarah Smith of Waune county, Ohio. To
this union were born ten children, seven girls and three boys, two of the former preceded
him to the realms above.

time--in 1850--he came to Huntington county, Ind., and settled in Rock Creek township on
land he had bought in previous years. He continued on the farm till the last five years
of his life, which were spent in Warren where he made his home with his daughter, Mrs.
James Lugar, and her husband. He was a kind husband and loving father, always pleasant
and easy to get along with. Funeral services were held at the Plum Tree Christian church
and interment was in the cemetery near that place.

The funeral of James McFadden, sr., held at this place, was largely attended, he having
lived here nearly all his married life. His age was 89 years and he was buried in the
cemetery adjoining his farm.
