My sister and I just got finished with a whirlwind tour of Indiana counties
working on ancestors. Really did enjoy our visit to the Indiana room at the
public library. Lots of work space and wonderful sources. Also visited the
courthouse where we had access to all the original wills. Did not make many
copies cause just hard to handle the large books on the copy machine and at
$1 a page, couldn't afford too many mistakes. Did however do lots of writing.
Bring some male company with you unless you are comfortable with climbing a
roller latter to get the BIG books down that are stacked about 10 feet high.
We stayed in a Comfort Inn that was not far out of town and there was a Bob
Evans restaurant in the parking lot so very convenient. The Indiana room has
obituaries indexed - not just the name but the actual obit and copies there
are only 20 cents. This was great. I also enjoyed all the city directories.
If I had had more time, I would have enjoyed the old high school year books
but got done, what I could. Not all the counties were as genealogy friendly
as Huntington but this one was wonderful. Take care
