Tillie Elizabeth Settlemyre was the daughter of Preston Bishop and Nancy Malinda Arick
Settlemyre. Here is his obit.

Resident of Roanoke for more than 60 years and a former insurance agent,
Nathan L. Highlands 88, died at 12:30 p.m. Sunday at his home on Second St.
He was born April 18, 1878 in Jackson Township, near Roanoke, and married Tillie Elizabeth
Settlymyer on September 12, 1900. She died February 1, 1963. Highland was a cashier in the
Farmers State Bank in Roanoke until it
discontinued business after which he worked as an insurance agent.
Surviving are two daughter Mrs. Leona Fisher and Mrs. Mayne Hemline, both of Roanoke,
three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a
sister, Mrs Klea Kelsey, Roanoke. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today in the Lynch
Mortuary, Roanoke, until noon
Wednesday when the body will be taken to the Roanoke EUB Church where friends may view
until the hour of the services at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Davis officiating. Burial will be
in the IOOF (Glenwood) Cemetery at Roanoke. Preferred memorials are requested to the EUB
Church.
Nathan Highlands Rites Are Conducted
Funeral services for Nathan Highlands were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the EUB Church
at Roanoke with Rev. John Davis officiating. Singers were Mrs. Clara French, Mrs. Dorthea
Zent and Mrs. Lea Gass with Mrs. Rosanna
Jennings at the organ. Pallbearers were Harold Amstutz, Russell Zent, Louis Warren,
Merrill Swaidner, Albert Clark and Denneth Eisenhut. Burial was in the IOOF (Glenwood)
Cemetery at Roanoke. The body was in the Lynch Mortuary prior to services.

Mrs Tillie E. Highlands, 90, wife of Nathan Highlands, died at 8:35 a.m. today in her
home, 181 West Second Street, Roanoke. She was born May 15, 1882 to Preston and Nancy
Marinda Settlemyre and married Mr. Highlands September 13, 1900, in the home where she
died. She was a lifelong
resident of the town. Surviving are the husband, two daughters, Mrs Leona Fisher and Mrs.
Mamie Henline, both of Roanoke: a sister, Mrs Mary M. (Lissie) Carter of Charlotte, N.C.
three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Mrs. Highlands was lifelong member of
the Roanoke Evangelical United Brethren Church. Friends may call in the Lynch Mortuary at
Roanoke from noon Saturday until noon Sunday when the body will be taken to the
Evangalical U. B. Church where friends may call until the hour of the services at 2 p.m.
with the Rev. John Davis and the Rev. R. E. Vance offictating. Burial will be in the IOOF
(Glenwood) cemetery.
