There could be many reasons why someone was moved or reburied in a different cemetery. In
my Family, my Great Grandfather was buried in a cemetery in 1925. In January, of 1931,
his Mother-in-law, (my GGGrandmother) died. She was being nursed by her daughter in a
town one state away from where she had lived all her life. My GGrandmother bought four
graves, one for each of her parents, herself and her husband. She had remarried by then
so I can only speculate about which husband was to be buried there. According to the
Cemetery records, her Mother was buried in January of 1931. In March of 1931, her
granddaughter died at the age of 6. It appears that my GGrandmother then went out and
bought another set of graves across the lane and a row or two further back and helped my
Grandparents bury their only daughter. I believe that it was at that time that she
decided to bring her first husband to this cemetery so that the whole family was buried
together. It wasn't until Ma!
y of 1931 that GGrandfather was moved to the same cemetery as all the other family
members. I did not know this until I visited the Cemetery Office. They did not have alot
of information but what they had was interesting.
Hope that helps.
