Mrs. Nancy Jones, an aged and venerable lady of Huntington Township, was born in Frederick
County, Va., December 11, 1796, and was the daughter of William and Mary (Ashby) Reveal,
both natives of Virginia. She grew up to womanhood in her native county. When she was
about twenty years of age she accompanied her parents to Highland County, Ohio, where she
was married to Samuel Jones, July 25, 1825. He was born in Pennsylvania, December 20,
1790. In 1833 she, accompanied by her husband and children, moved to this county and
settled on the present site of Warren. That was the first settlement in Salamonie
Township. They continued together in that Township until their union was broken by the
death of her husband, August 9, 1873. Since that time she has lived with her children.
She is now living with her son Samuel W. Jones. She is now in the ninety-first year of
her age and is probably the only person living who is entitled to the credit of being one
of the first settlers !
of Huntington County. She is supposed to be the oldest person in the county.
