William Joseph Oxley, 83, died Thursday evening at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Marion
Wilson, six miles south of Huntington on the Marion Road. Mr. Oxley, who formerly was a
minister of the United Brethren Church, had been seriously ill for the last month.
Mr. Oxley was born January 16, 1846 in Henry County, Indiana, the son of William Milton
Oxley and Margaret Roberds. His marriage was on January 29, 1865 to Hannah Elizabeth
Keever. Seven children were born to this union, five of whom are now dead.
Surviving are the widow and two children, Mrs. Marion Wilson of Lancaster township, and
the Rev. O.E. Oxley, of North Liberty, Indiana. There are 13 grandchildren and four
great-grandchildren. Sisters who survive include Mrs. Thomas Hillan, of Muncie, Mrs.
Charles Ferris, Mrs. Orson Wine, and Mrs. Wesley Howell, all of Modoc, Indiana.
Funeral services will be held at Sunday afternoon at Pilcher's Chapel with the Rev.
Wallace Deyo officiating. Burial will be at Monument City.
