I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as John M. MOORE which was
taken
at the Albright Studio in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In addition to his name,
someone has written "1840-1900" and "Yours Truly" and "1st Lieut.
Co. G.
84th Ind." On the back of the photograph. The photograph appears to have
been taken in the 1890's or early 1900's with John likely in his 50's at the
time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the
following information in census records regarding John and his family:
1880 census of New Castle, IN:
William GROW or GROSE, age 65, an Attorney at Law, born OH
John M. MOORE, son-in-law, age 39, a Druggist, born IN
Sarah M. MOORE, dau, age 36, Keeping House, born IN
Minnie MOORE, granddau, age 15, Attending School, born IN
Ella MOORE, granddau, age 12, Attending School, born IN
William MOORE, grandson, age 9, Attending School, born IN
John MOORE, grandson, age 8, Attending School, born IN
James GROW or GROSE, son, age 20, born IN
1900 census of Albuquerque, NM:
John M. MOORE, age 59, born Jun 1840, married 36 years, born IN, parents
born WV, a Fire Ins. & Real Estate Agent
Sarah M. MOORE, wife, age 57, born Sept 1842, married 36 years, 6 children/4
living, born IN, parents born OH/NC
I'm hoping to locate someone from John's family so that the photograph can
be returned to the care of his family. If you are a member of John's
family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
