Ancestors, the highly successful PBS series, is back with an updated format
and 13 new episodes shot on location around the world. The new series
emphasizes the world of records, making it an exciting research
tool for beginning and seasoned genealogists alike. Whether your library has
an extensive collection of local history and genealogy records or whether you
get only an occasional query about family history, the
combination of exciting research stories and expert advice in this series can
help your patrons to get involved and to be successful in their search for
roots.
But Ancestors is more than simply a how-to PBS series. The project includes
a number of educational materials, including: --an instructional website,
with links, downloadable research forms, and information about
record types (often as video clips!) --an online teacher's guide, designed
for grades 7-12 or community education programs --am instructional guidebook,
a step-by-step guide to the research process family historians follow
--instructional videos, designed especially for use in classrooms and other
teaching settings.

We encourage you to send this message to other librarians and genealogists
who may be interested in hearing about Ancestors. We appreciate your help in
spreading the word and hope that this project will help your library patrons
and other researchers find the best ways to search for ancestors.
